Arrows James R. Chason and Matthew M. Somers obtained a ruling from the Court of Special Appeals affirming summary judgment in a case of a medical student suing her instructor for alleged injuries from an in-class physical therapy demonstration. The Court held that there was no physician/patient relationship and therefore no duty to the student. The Court noted the risk of an expanded and unmanageable standard of tort liability for medical school instructors and educational institutions if a physician/patient relationship were imposed under the circumstances.
