James (“Jim”) Chason is one of four founding partners of the firm. Following law school, he started his career as the first Staff Attorney for the United States District Court in Maryland, where he drafted opinions and supervised student Law Clerks.
A 28-year career followed at Whiteford, Taylor & Preston LLP, during which time he tried over 100 jury trials representing medical personnel and facilities in negligence actions; product manufacturers and distributors in personal injury and property damage actions brought by product users; and commercial entities involving property, contractual and other disputes. Jim’s experience ranges from appearances before the Health Claims Arbitration Office of Maryland, Circuit Courts, Court of Special Appeals and Court of Appeals of Maryland, United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States District Court to proceedings before the Board of Physician Quality Assurance, Board of Psychology and Board of Nursing. This extensive trial experience resulted in his election to the American College of Trial Lawyers, an organization dedicated to maintaining and improving the standards of trial practice, the administration of justice and the ethics of the profession. It is comprised of less than 1% of the total number of lawyers in each state.
Jim has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2010 edition of The Best Lawyers in America ® in the specialties of Commercial Litigation, Medical Malpractice Law and Professional Malpractice Law.
In the community, Jim serves as a Board Member of the Carson Scholars Fund, counseling the Board in legal matters, and he participated for twelve years with the Community Outreach Emergency Food Program. |
